PPR or mutual fund: which suits you

A mutual fund is a vehicle: you put money in, it gets invested, and you can leave whenever you want, paying tax on the gain each year. It is flexible, and that flexibility is also its weakness for the long term, because leaving is always one click away.

A PPR ties the same kind of investment to a long-term purpose, and in exchange the law gives you a deduction on contributions and tax deferral: returns pay no income tax each year, so compound interest works on a larger base.

The short answer: for the goal of stopping work, the structure with a tax benefit and a disciplined horizon usually wins. But a serious decision starts with the number, not the product: first how much you need, then which vehicle takes you there.
